Text Messaging (SMS) Program & Opt-In

Remindr is a personal reminder and memory app (remindrapp.us). Users can optionally receive their own scheduled reminders as text messages. This page documents exactly how a person consents to those texts, what they receive, and how they stop them.

1. How a user opts in

Texting is opt-in only, inside the app, and 1-to-1: consent is collected by Remindr, for Remindr's messages only, and is never transferred, assigned, or shared with any third party for their use. There are two places a user can add a number — both require typing the number and actively ticking an unchecked-by-default consent box before any text is sent:

Profile → Edit profile → "Mobile for text reminders" — used for the reminders the user schedules for themselves; the number is then verified with a one-time code.
Sign-in screen → "Continue with phone" — sends a one-time sign-in code.

The checkbox is never pre-selected, consent is not a condition of using Remindr (in-app and email reminders work without it), and each consent is recorded with the number, timestamp, and IP address.

2. What messages are sent

Reminder alerts — the user's own scheduled reminders, e.g. ⏰ Remindr: Pick up the car from the mechanic — ask about the brakes

Sign-in codes — e.g. Remindr code: 123456 — Expires in 10 minutes — don't share it. Reply STOP to opt out.

Setup test — e.g. Remindr: texting is set up ✅ — your reminders will arrive here. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.

The reminder text is written by the user, for the user: they compose the reminder wording when they schedule it, and it is delivered back to their own verified number inside the fixed branded template above. Remindr sends no marketing, promotional, or bulk messages.

3. Message frequency

Message frequency varies and is controlled entirely by the user — one text per reminder they scheduled, as it comes due. Plans cap volume at 10 (Free), 100 (Plus) or 1,000 (Premium) reminder texts per month. Message and data rates may apply.

4. Anti-abuse controls

Remindr enforces layered, server-side limits so the service cannot be used for marketing, bulk messaging, or scams:

Recipient-number limits — an account may text only a fixed number of distinct phone numbers other than its own verified number: Free 0, Plus 1, Premium 20. Slots don't reset — a sender cannot rotate through new numbers.
Volume caps — 10 / 100 / 1,000 texts per month by plan, plus a 5-per-day cap on sends to any unverified contact.
Content screening — texts to other people are automatically refused if they contain links, link shorteners, or marketing/scam-pattern content (prizes, gift cards, crypto, account-verification phishing, payment-service impersonation, etc.).
Automatic lockout — repeated blocked attempts suspend an account's ability to message anyone but themselves; every send and every block is logged.

5. Opting out & help

Reply STOP to any message to stop all texts immediately.
Reply HELP for help, or contact [email protected].
Removing the number in Profile, or switching a reminder to in-app/email, also stops texts.

6. Privacy

No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Opt-in data and consent are never sold or transferred; see the Privacy Policy for the complete details.
