One export = the WHOLE conversation — even 400 messages come out in one file, nothing is copied by hand. WhatsApp: chat → ⋮ → More → Export chat (without media). Android SMS: "SMS Backup & Restore" app → XML. iPhone iMessage/SMS: Apple lets no app read Messages directly — but if you have a Mac, drop in ~/Library/Messages/chat.db and Remindr splits EVERY conversation automatically. Or any CSV.
